Frequently asked questions

Does this work with non-English characters?

Yes. Accented letters and other scripts that have upper and lower case, such as Greek and Cyrillic, are converted using Unicode case rules (é becomes É, ß becomes SS). Scripts without case, such as Chinese or Japanese, are left as they are. Formats like snake_case and kebab-case split words at spaces and punctuation, so unspaced Chinese or Japanese text stays one word.

How does Title Case handle acronyms and small words?

Title Case capitalizes the first letter of each word and keeps capitals you already typed, so NASA and iPhone stay as they are. Short words such as a, an, the, and, or, of, in and to stay lowercase unless they start or end a line or follow a colon or the end of a sentence. Sentence case keeps acronyms, words with a capital inside them like iPhone, and the word I, lowercases everything else (including names such as London) and capitalizes the first letter of each sentence. If the whole text is in capitals, both lowercase it first, so HELLO WORLD becomes Hello World in Title Case and Hello world in Sentence case.

What is the difference between PascalCase and camelCase?

Both join words without spaces, but PascalCase capitalizes the first letter of every word (including the first), while camelCase keeps the first letter lowercase. Existing word boundaries are detected, so XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request in snake_case and base64Decode becomes base64_decode.

Is my text sent to a server?

All conversion happens instantly in your browser. No text is transmitted or stored anywhere.

Can I convert a whole list at once?

Yes. camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, dot.case and CONSTANT_CASE convert each line separately, so a list of column names becomes a list of identifiers. UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case and Sentence case apply to the whole text, keeping your line breaks.
