Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 3, 2026
Welcome to UtilKit ("UtilKit", "we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you visit https://utilkit.tools (the "Site").
1. About UtilKit
UtilKit is a client-side web utility toolbox. All tool processing (encoding, decoding, hashing, formatting, generation, etc.) occurs entirely within your browser. We do not transmit your input data to any server. Your data never leaves your device when you use our tools.
2. Information We Collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we run no server that receives what you enter into the tools. Information about you reaches us or the services we use only in the following ways:
- Log Data: Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may automatically collect standard log data such as your IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and pages visited.
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect usage metrics such as pages viewed, session duration, device and browser type, and approximate location (derived by Google from your IP address, which GA4 does not store). We also record which kind of action a tool was used for (for example "copy" or "download") - never the content you entered. Google Analytics uses cookies holding a randomly generated identifier to recognize returning visitors; this identifier is pseudonymous rather than anonymous, but it does not contain your name or contact details.
- OCR Language Data: The Image to Text (OCR) tool downloads language data from the jsDelivr CDN (cdn.jsdelivr.net) the first time you use each language. As with any web request, jsDelivr receives your IP address and browser user agent. Only the language file is requested - the image you are reading text from never leaves your device.
- Email: If you email us, we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply to you.
- Cookies: Cookies are placed by Google Analytics as described above. In the future, if we introduce advertising (e.g., Google AdSense), additional third-party cookies may be used to serve relevant ads. We will update this policy accordingly before that happens.
3. Advertising
UtilKit does not currently display advertisements. We may introduce advertising (such as Google AdSense) in the future to support the free operation of the Site. If and when advertising is added, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe the specific advertising technologies and cookies used, along with instructions for opting out of personalized ads.
4. How We Use Information
The information described above is used to:
- Analyze site traffic and usage patterns to improve the Site.
- Maintain the security and operation of the hosting infrastructure.
- Answer messages you send us.
5. Cookies and On-Device Storage
Cookies are small data files stored on your browser. The Site currently uses:
- Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies (e.g.,
_ga,_ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and track session information. They hold a random identifier, not your name or contact details.
The Site also stores the following on your device. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and can be removed at any time by clearing your browser data for this site:
- Local Storage: Your light/dark theme preference, so the Site looks the same on your next visit.
- Cache Storage: A service worker stores copies of the tool pages and their assets so the Site loads quickly and keeps working offline. It caches only the Site's own pages - never anything you enter into a tool.
- IndexedDB: The Image to Text (OCR) tool keeps the language data it downloads (several MB per language) so it does not have to fetch it again on your next visit.
- Session Storage: After the Site is updated, a page that can no longer load its code reloads itself once; a timestamp kept until you close the tab prevents a reload loop.
You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. You may also opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Device Permissions
Some tools ask your browser for access to device features. Your browser will always prompt you first, and everything these features provide is processed locally and never transmitted:
- Camera: The QR Code Scanner can read a code from your camera. The video stream is analyzed frame by frame in your browser and is never recorded, uploaded, or stored. The camera is released as soon as a code is found or you close the scanner.
- Clipboard: Tools that offer a Copy button write to your clipboard, and the image tools accept an image pasted from it. We only read the clipboard as part of a paste you perform yourself.
- Files: Files you open or drag into a tool are read directly in your browser. They are not uploaded anywhere.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data. The services named in this policy - Cloudflare (hosting), Google (analytics) and jsDelivr (OCR language data) - receive data directly from your browser as described in section 2. We do not pass them anything else.
8. GDPR and EEA Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights regarding your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Apart from email you send us, UtilKit holds no personal data, so exercising these rights mostly involves the services named above. You can manage your Google Analytics data through Google's Privacy Dashboard, or opt out entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on. For any other requests, please contact us at contact@utilkit.tools.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
10. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
