Frequently asked questions
What does "Normalize spaces and tabs" do?
It replaces every run of spaces, tabs, and other space characters - including the non-breaking spaces common in text copied from web pages and PDFs - with a single regular space. It is on by default. A single tab becomes a space too, so switch it off for tab-separated data. Line breaks are kept.
What does Trim lines do?
Trim lines (on by default) removes spaces and tabs from the start and end of every line, indentation included. The Result header counts the lines that were trimmed or otherwise changed and the blank lines removed - or says No changes when the text was already clean.
Does it remove blank lines?
Yes - Remove blank lines (on by default) removes every empty line, including lines that contain only spaces or tabs. A newline at the very end of the text is kept. Switch it off to keep the paragraph breaks.
Can I combine multiple cleaning options?
All three options are independent switches, and all are on to start with. Turn off any you do not need - the result updates instantly as you toggle them.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. All cleaning runs entirely in your browser. No text is uploaded or stored on any server.
