ExampleAbout
QR codes (Quick Response codes) are two-dimensional barcodes that can store thousands of characters in a compact, scannable format. They include built-in error correction, allowing them to be read even when partially damaged or obscured.
How to use
1.
Type or paste into Text or URL - the QR code updates as you type
2.
Pick an Error correction level (Quartile by default): higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser
3.
Select PNG or SVG to download the code, or Copy SVG to copy its markup
Common uses
▸
Sharing a URL on printed materials, slides, or posters

Encoding Wi-Fi credentials for guests to scan

Frequently asked questions
What can I encode in a QR code?
Any text - URLs, plain text, email addresses or phone numbers. The tool encodes exactly what you type; there are no form helpers, but phones recognise standard text formats. For Wi-Fi, enter WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:password;; (use T:nopass for an open network, and put a backslash before any \ ; , : or " in the name or password). A vCard pasted in from a contacts app works the same way.
What is the maximum amount of data a QR code can hold?
It depends on the content and the error correction level. At level L a QR code holds up to 2,953 bytes of text, or 7,089 characters if it is digits only; at the default level Q the limit is 1,663 bytes. Accented letters and emoji take 2-4 bytes each. A counter in the header of the Input panel shows how much of the limit you are using, and the preview explains what to do if the text no longer fits.
Can I download the QR code?
Download as PNG (at least 1,024 × 1,024 pixels, whatever your screen) for digital use, or SVG for scalable, print-quality output. Both include the white quiet zone of 4 modules around the code that scanners need to find it.
Is my data sent to a server?
QR code generation runs entirely in your browser. No data is transmitted anywhere.
What is error correction level?
Error correction lets a scanner read a code that is partly damaged or covered. Choose Low (L, about 7% recoverable), Medium (M, 15%), Quartile (Q, 25%, the default) or High (H, 30%). Higher levels add redundancy, so the code gets denser and holds less data. The level you pick is a minimum: if the code has spare room at its size, a higher level is used automatically without making the code any bigger.
